Day 1: The Capital of Cool
Pick up at Keflavik airport, then we take you to your hotel in Reykjavik. where you can then enjoy the rest of the day and preparing for the journey around Iceland.
Day 2: The beautiful South
The first day we start our trip around 8.30 in the morning, we head southwest through the farmlands,then we head to Thorsmork. Thorsmork is a magnificent valley named after Þór (Thor), the god of Thunder. The amazing nature of green valleys, mountains, clear water creeks, and majestic glacial rivers that makes thorsmork one of iceland most beautiful place for hiking. Thorsmork is an oasis because of its unique location between 3 glaciers and has its own weather system because of the location. Stay the night in Skógar, at Hótel Skógar or similar.
Day 3: Black Beaches and the Glacier
We start the day in the Vík area, we then head to the black volcanic beach south of the village, from where you can view the rock formations Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar. then to the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur before visiting Skaftafell National Park and the breathtaking glacial lagoon, Jökulsárlón. We Stay overnight near the village of Höfn, in Iceland’s southeast corner, right by Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier. Optional: snowmobile tour on Vatnajökull.
Day 4: The spectacular Fjords of the East
We drive through spectacular fjords and visit some of the charming fishing villages as we head to the capital of east Iceland, Egilsstaðir. Among notable sites along the way are the majestic Mt. Búlandstindur, the village of Seyðisfjörður, the Lagarfljót River were the monster lives(our own nessie) and Atlavík Cove. Stay the night at the charming Egilsstaðir. Optional activities: kayaking, sailing or deep-sea fishing is a must.
Day 5: The wonders of lake Mývatn
Be Prepared to be amazed by the unique, natural beauty of Lake Mývatn and its surroundings. The spectacular lunar landscape of Námaskarð, then we head towards Skútustaðagígar pseudocraters and the Dimmuborgir lava formations, as well as to the still active Mt. Krafla, one of Iceland’s most interesting volcanoes. In the afternoon, we’ll visit the all natural Mývatn Bath. Stay at Hotel Reykjahlid or similar. Optional: full massage after an enjoyable day.
Day 6: The Pearls of the North
We start the day in Ásbyrgi Canyon, then it´s Dettifoss, the most powerful waterfall in Europe, they are both located in the Jökulsárgljúfur National Park, to the north of Lake Mývatn. We then visit the village of Húsavík, best known for its whale-watching tours. A boat trip from Húsavik is something we do, to view these magnificent animals, before heading back to the hotel at Mývatn.
Day 7: Capital of the North and the Arctic Circle
We’ll spend the first part of the day by Lake Mývatn, before visiting the Goðafoss waterfall on our way to romantic Akureyri, that has a population of around 16000 thousand‘ Capital of the North’ as we call it. The guide will take you to the places of interest in this charming town. Stay the night in Akureyri.
Day 8: The Highland Road and the Golden Circle
Today we’ll take you midway over Iceland’s Highland area. We’ll start the day in beautiful Skagafjörður, where you can enjoy some of the optional activities they offer. We’ll then take you over the Kjölur mountain road and stop at Hveravellir, where you can bathe in a natural hot spring. As the journey continues we visit some of the best-known natural phenomena in Iceland, including Gullfoss, Geysir and Þingvellir National Park. We’ll end the day in Reykjavik, where you’ll stay overnight.
Day 9: The Blue Lagoon and departure
At the end of this fantastic journey in Iceland we visit Reykjanes and some of its hidden secrets. We drive to the geologically active Lake Kleifarvatn area and Krýsuvík Cove before visiting the Blue Lagoon spa. At the Blue Lagoon, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy a massage before heading to Keflavík Airport for your afternoon flight back home. If your flight is in the morning, we’ll change the plan accordingly.
